Residual Risks
The following warnings describe residual risks that remain despite the implementation of protective measures. Operator awareness and adherence to these warnings are essential for safety.
Crushing & Impact Hazards
WARNING: Crushing & Impact Hazard
An autonomous moving vehicle can crush or impact personnel, resulting in death or serious injury from being pinned between the machine and a fixed object (e.g., wall, rack, other vehicle). Always be aware of the Burro's path of travel. Never place yourself in a pinch point.
Electrical Hazards
WARNING: Electrical Hazard
High voltage electrical system. Electric shock, burns, or death can occur. Never open the main electrical enclosure (Brain Box) without first turning the machine OFF and disconnecting both batteries.
Tipping / Stability Hazards
WARNING: Tipping & Stability Hazard
The machine can become unstable and tip over on steep slopes or when improperly loaded, leading to crushing injuries or death.
Slope Limits: Adhere strictly to the following slope limitations:
When Loaded: Do not continuously operate for more than 2 minutes on slopes exceeding an 8.5% grade (5 degrees). Do not operate for any duration on slopes greater than 17.5% grade (10 degrees).
When Unloaded: Do not continuously operate for more than 2 minutes on slopes exceeding 26% grade (15 degrees). Do not operate for any duration on slopes greater than 36% grade (20 degrees).
Improper Loading: Always load cargo with the heaviest items at the bottom and centered between the wheels. An unbalanced or top-heavy load can cause the Burro to become unstable and overturn, especially during turns or on slopes.
CAUTION: Slippery Surfaces
The stated slope limits apply to firm, dry terrain. Operation on wet grass, mud, loose gravel, or icy surfaces can lead to unexpected sliding or loss of control, even on slopes below the maximum limit. If you observe wheel slippage, immediately stop the machine.
Collision Hazards in Dynamic Environments
WARNING: Risk of Collision with Cross-Traffic
The Burro's sensors are primarily forward-facing and have a limited field of view. They may not detect vehicles, forklifts, or personnel approaching rapidly from the side (cross-traffic), particularly at intersections or when exiting aisles. The operator is responsible for stopping the Burro and visually clearing intersections before proceeding. Never assume the Burro will see everything.
WARNING: Blind Spots During Pivot Turns
The Burro has significant sensor blind spots close to its body during sharp pivot turns. Personnel standing within 1 meter (3.3 feet) of the machine's sides may not be detected during a pivot. Operators and bystanders must maintain a safe distance and remain outside the machine's turning radius.
