Maintenance Procedure
Tire Care and Maintenance
Regularly check tire pressure to ensure optimal performance and localization.
Lug Nut Torque: 80 ft-lbs (108.5 Nm)
Available Tire Options
Standard (18×8.5×10, Code R3, 22 PSI, 4 PLY): general-purpose tire with deep treads.
Traction (20×8.5×10, Code R1, 24 PSI, 4 PLY): for soft, uneven terrains (grass, soil, sand).
Non-Marking (18×8.5×8, Code R3, 22 PSI, 6 PLY): for concrete and paved surfaces without leaving marks.
Updating the Tire Profile in Software1
Tap the Settings icon2
From the main menu, tap the Settings icon.
Tap Manage Profiles and Add-ons3
Open the Manage Profiles and Add-ons menu.
Select the Add-ons tab4
Switch to the Add-ons tab.
Tap Tire Selection5
Open the Tire Selection screen.
Choose the matching tire profile6
Select the profile that matches the newly installed tires.
Relaunch the software7
Tap Relaunch to apply the change.
Changing a Tire
Tools Needed
Jack and jack stands (rated > 1200 lbs)
Wheel chocks
Torque wrench
21 mm socket
Park on a level surface1
Park the Burro on a hard, level surface.
Perform full shutdown and disconnect batteries2
Complete the shutdown procedure and disconnect both batteries.
Chock the opposite wheels3
Place wheel chocks on the wheels opposite the tire being changed.
Position the jack4
Set the jack under the designated jack point near the wheel.
Raise the Burro5
Lift until the tire clears the ground.
Secure with a jack stand6
Place a jack stand under the frame near the jack.
Remove lug nuts7
Use the 21 mm socket to remove and set aside the lug nuts.
Remove the old wheel8
Pull the wheel off the hub.
Mount the new wheel9
Place the new wheel on the hub and hand-tighten lug nuts.
Lower until tire touches ground10
Slowly lower the Burro until the tire just contacts the ground.
Torque the lug nuts11
Use the torque wrench to tighten lug nuts to 80 ft-lbs in a star pattern.
Lower completely and remove supports12
Lower the Burro fully, then remove the jack and jack stand.
Lifting and Hoisting
When lifting the machine, follow these safety procedures:
Use only designated hoist points on the frame (front and rear, between wheels).
Always support the Burro on jack stands; never rely on the jack alone.
Function Test after Maintenance
Elevate the Burro1
Raise the Burro so all wheels spin freely.
Power on and wait2
Turn on the machine and wait for the UI to load.
Test manual controls3
From a safe position, press Forward and Reverse on the yellow control panels to confirm correct wheel rotation.
Test Person Follow mode4
Activate Person Follow; verify wheel direction and beeps when you approach.
Lower and return to service5
Lower the Burro to the ground and resume operation.
Cleaning
Pressure warning
Do not use a high-pressure washer.
Do not direct compressed air within 6 inches of electronics enclosures or sensors.
General Cleaning
Use compressed air or a low-pressure hose for most components.
Sensors & Screen
Clean cameras, LiDAR sensor, and touchscreen with lens wipes or a soft, damp cloth.
Enclosures
Ensure USB and charging ports are sealed before washing.
Top Tray
Remove and clean separately.
Wheel & Motor Area
Use a low-pressure hose to wash dirt and mud from wheels and chassis.
Adjustments
Tap the Settings icon on the touchscreen UI to access adjustments.
General Settings
Speed: overall maximum speed.
Row Speed / Row Distance: for RowNav mode.
Stop Time: pause duration at stations.
Lights: toggle main LEDs (safety flashes remain active).
Language: UI display language.
Manage PIN: set a 4-digit PIN to lock settings.
Manage Profiles and Add-ons: configure tire and attachment profiles.
Accessing Additional Menus
Tap “General” in Settings1
On the Settings screen, tap “General” at top left.
Choose from the side menu2
Select one of:
Advanced (acceleration, eco mode, obstacle handling)
GPS (localization modes, base-station pairing)
Launch + Record (diagnostic data)
Developer (experimental settings)
Localization and GPS Setup
To Check GPS Status
Quick View: tap Localization Status icon on main menu.
Advanced View: Settings > General > GPS.
Navigate to Manage Navigation Mode1
In the GPS menu, select Manage Navigation Mode, choose GPS (Base Station), and tap Apply Changes.
Select GPS Base Station2
Return to GPS menu, tap Select GPS Base, enter the 4-digit serial number, and tap Save.
Other Modes
GPS (NTRIP): default RTK corrections over cellular.
GPS (Off) / Vision: indoor use via cameras.
LiDAR: full indoor navigation, including towing.
Indoor Navigation with Reflective Paint
Operate within 2–3 m of painted lines for LiDAR detection.
Keep lines clean and unobstructed.
Advanced Settings
Acceleration/Deceleration: route start/stop rates.
Eco Mode: battery conservation when stationary.
Audio: toggle audible alerts.
Obstacle Detection:
• Min. Obstacle Height: ignore objects below set height.
• Robot/Trailer Width: adjust for towing (max 9 ft).
• Obstacle Avoidance (Experimental).Demo Mode: manual control and person follow only.
Switching User Interfaces
Open Manage Profiles and Add-ons1
Settings > Manage Profiles and Add-ons.
Select Main Screen tab2
Choose the Main Screen tab.
Choose and confirm new UI3
Select BOSS or BOSS Pro and confirm to restart.
