Intersection Speed Limit

Intersection Speed Limits let you set a global maximum speed for all network intersections and their linked path segments. This helps ensure safe, consistent navigation through intersections without requiring manual updates for each segment.

How It Works

• Global Setting

  • The Intersection Speed Limit applies to all linked network paths connected to intersections.

  • Any new intersection or linked segment automatically inherits the global intersection speed.

• Bulk Updates

  • You can bulk update all intersections and linked segments at once by adjusting the global value.

• Override Behavior

  • The global intersection speed only updates values that are higher than the set limit.

  • Segments with custom speeds lower than the limit are not updated.

  • If no intersection speed is set, the system defaults to the site speed or segment speed.

  • When a segment is newly linked to an intersection, the global intersection speed is applied unless that segment already has a slower custom speed.

• Speed Enforcement

  • Intersection speeds cannot exceed 2.4 m/s (maximum allowed).

Set an Intersection Speed Limit

1. Navigate to Site Settings in BOSS Web.

   

2. Locate the Intersection Speed Limit field.

   

3. Input the desired speed value (must be ≤ 2.4 m/s).

4. Tap Update & Set to apply changes.

Best Practices

• Use intersection speed limits to maintain consistent safety margins where multiple Burros may cross paths.

• Keep intersection speeds lower than straight-line path speeds to reduce collision risks.

• Review site conditions (terrain, slope, traffic volume) before setting the global value.

• If using custom speeds for sensitive areas, ensure they are set lower than the global limit so they remain in place.
