Recorded Paths

Recorded Paths are routes captured directly from a Burro with the Path Record feature. They serve as an alternative to manually created paths and can be reused across missions by uploading them into BOSS Web.

• Purpose: Allow users to leverage robot-recorded movement as reusable paths to add to sites for network paths, shapes, exclusion zones, and independent path operations.

Behavior

• Recorded Paths are uploaded from the robot and appear in BOSS Web un the top “Recorded Paths” folder.

  • If not recorded, paths within the site bounds will not appear in this folder.

• They are not editable because they contain sensitive data tied to the exact movement and behavior of the Burro that recorded the path (eg, LiDAR Mapping, Odometry).

• Users may copy or download a Recorded Path, then re-upload it either as:

  • An independent path, or

  • Part of an existing network.

• Recorded Paths can be deleted in BOSS Web, but this action only removes them from the web interface — the path remains stored on the robot and in the database.

• If a Recorded Path is added to a network via the Action Menu, the original version is removed from BOSS Web (it becomes part of the network instead).

• Recorded Paths may also be sent directly to a Burro for execution via the Send to Burro feature.

Best Practices

• Use Recorded Paths when capturing real-world navigation (e.g., complex routes, irregular environments) that are harder to draw manually.

• For reusable or complex paths, store backups by downloading paths before adding them to a network.

• Keep naming conventions consistent to distinguish Recorded Paths from manually created ones.

• Regularly clean up unused Recorded Paths in BOSS Web to avoid clutter, knowing they remain safe on the robot.

• Simplify Recorded Paths to reduce file size and improve performance.
