Independent Paths
Independent Paths are manually created or imported paths that can be used for navigation or planning outside of area generation. They give you more flexibility in how you define routes, while now supporting start and end points for better integration with Burro workflows.
Path Elements
Path Line
A continuous line made up of anchor points.
Can be created manually in BOSS Web or imported from a recorded path.
Start and End Points
Independent Paths now support start and end points, just like area-generated paths.
By default, these points are off for Independent Paths.
You may enable them manually when you want the path to behave like a full route.
When enabled, start and end points act as destinations and can be connected to your network.
How to Use Independent Paths
Create or Import a Path
Draw a path manually using the Path Tool in BOSS Web, or
Upload a recorded path from a Burro.
Enable Start/End Points (Optional)
Select the path.
Turn on Start/End Points if you want the path to act as a navigable route.
Adjust the position to ensure smooth entry/exit angles for Burros.
Add to Network (Optional)
Independent Paths can be added to your network for integration with other routes.
Once added, they can connect with destinations, intersections, and other elements.
Send to a Burro
Independent Paths can be deployed directly to Burros.
Select the path and choose Send to Burro.
On the robot, the path can then be used like any other network path.
Best Practices
Use start and end points when you want Independent Paths to function as part of the broader network.
Keep paths simple and connected cleanly to avoid navigation errors.
If using Independent Paths for testing or drafts, leave start/end points off to reduce clutter.
Consider smoothing paths before saving to improve performance and Burro handling.
